The 5th Annual Clean Energy Venture Summit and Cleantech Open Regional Judging & Awards is scheduled on September 28-29, 2011 at the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center in Austin, Texas. The Clean Energy Venture Summit has become the premier Cleantech business plan completion and educational conference in the southern United States.
This Summit provides clean energy technology companies and entrepreneurs a venue for presenting their innovations to venture capitalists, angel investors, and strategic investors that currently invest in clean energy, as well as experts from Austin Energy, corporate partners, other utility executives, and government leaders. This year, the Clean Energy Venture Summit competition will select 10 later-stage start-up companies to present their technology to a panel of experienced investors, and for the first time the winners will be rewarded with cash prizes.
In addition to the later-stage business competition, the event will also host the South Central regional finals for the Cleantech Open, a national seed-stage clean energy competition with 7 companies vying for a chance to win a total of $80,000 regionally and, for three finalists, $250,000 at the Cleantech Open Global Forum in California.
Bob King of Good Company Associates will lead a panel of utility industry executives on Wednesday in a "living room" discussion of how the utility sector is evolving. Leaders from Austin Energy, Oncor, CPS Energy, and the Texas Institute will discuss how their organizations are adopting new policies and solutions to prepare for the electricity needs of the future.
Brewster McCracken, Executive Director, Pecan Street, Inc. will moderate a dynamic panel on Thursday with executives from Best Buy, Sony, Intel and LG. This panel will explore the role of consumer electronics in emerging markets such as smart grid, and discuss their corporate approaches to development of new technologies.
